How to Make your Computer Welcome and Talk to you Immediately after Booting.
COMPUTER SYSTEM SPEECH ON STARTUP.
Here is the simple tutorial to make your computer welcome you with your name on startup, when you switch on the computer.
I've tried my possible best to make this tutorial escape being among the list of sophisticated tutorials that is incomprehensible, no matter how many times you have read it all over. Check it out, it's worth your time, because the end-result is extraordinary in driving a colossal joy to your heart for being a computer geek that does things that seems impossible from the beginning.
Follow the steps one after the other, and arrive at the destination aforementioned. *winks*
Step 1
Launch or Open Notepad (Start » All Programs » Accessories » Notepad).
Copy – Paste the code below in it →
*********************************************************************************
Dim speaks, speech speaks=”Welcome to your PC, ProfsBase.com"
Set speech=CreateObject(“sapi.spvoice”)
speech.Speak speaks
*********************************************************************************
In the written code above, Replace “ProfsBase.com” with your name or any other thing you want it to say to you.
When you are done, then;
Click on “File ” menu and select “Save as” command button.
Next , select “ All Files ” from the Save as option box.
type "name" and save it in this format name.vbs.
E.g:- Welcome.vbs, name.vbs, profbase.vbs, speech.vbs e.t.c.
(Anything is accepted as long as it ends with .vbs).
Hope you got that?
Now, copy the new notepad file and navigate to:
C:\Documents and Settings\AllUsers\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
That is if your Operating System is; Windows Xp .
But if your Operating System is Windows vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8, then navigate using below directories:
C:\Users\ {User-Name}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Note: I have found out that every system's “AppData” folder is a hidden folder.
So to access it, just press the windows start-key and search for “show hidden files and folders”.
Or
Goto control panel and locate “show hidden files and folders”, if you can find it, then click the search textbox at the top right control of the explorer displaying the control panel options and paste this; “show hidden files and folders”, it must appear to you.
Now, once found, just select it and select VIEW tab, run you eyes downwards to see show hidden files, folders and drivers then click to enable it.
That is just the only reason why you are asked to search for "Show hidden files and folders" in order to locate AppData folder which comprises of other folders.
Paste the copied text document that you have saved with a name that ends with .vbs in the STARTUP folder and exit the folder.
The next time you startup your Computer System, thank ProfsBase.com for the wonderful magic you'd never imagine, it is possible in your own capability, to make changes to your Computer's Operating System.
Note: This speech said to you on every startup, can be changed to anything.
Step 2
In order to ensure that this customized welcome tone isn’t over-ridden by the default windows tone, it is advisable that the sound scheme is changed to “No sound”.
You can quit reading, if that's a simple thing to do, but if not, get along.
Here’s how to go about it:
Navigate to the Control Panel.
Click on Switch to Classic View » Sounds and Audio Devices.
Next, click on the Sounds tab and choose No Sound from the Sound scheme options.
Finally, click on apply and OK command button.
That’s all!
But, You can never know how interesting it is until you have tried it out.
So, anytime you start your PC, you should be greeted with your customized greeting instead of that tone.
